At FLOWN, we are committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all members. To get the most out of the experience, we've designed our community guidelines with three guiding principles:

Be Mindful of Others' Focus

Understand that everyone is here to work. It is a space to think, work, and create in the reassuring presence of other deep workers.

Respect Differences

We acknowledge that we are all from diverse backgrounds and have unique differences and perspectives. What unites us is our shared commitment to focus.

Support Each Other

Use your interactions to connect, inspire, and support each other in reaching your focus and productivity goals.

IN SESSION GUIDANCE

We ask all members to follow these guidelines to ensure a productive and respectful atmosphere during FLOWN sessions.

Encouraged behavior

  • Professional conduct: FLOWN is a safe-for-work environment, so dress and conduct yourself as you would in a public setting, such as a café. Behave respectfully and professionally and as you would in a shared public space.

  • Be punctual: Arrive on time to ensure you and others make the most of the session. Arriving late can be disruptive and affect the group's flow.

  • Camera on culture: Body doubling only works if you can see other people. We’re a community platform, so give the gift of focus to others by letting them see you focus.

  • Value others: Be considerate of others' time, opinions, and points of view. A considerate attitude helps maintain a positive and productive environment.

  • Listen actively: Pay attention to others when sharing intentions or updates. Engaging attentively shows consideration and enhances mutual support.

  • Maintain focus: We are a platform designed to help you find focus and time for deep work, so where possible, be present in your work and minimize distractions for yourself and others.

  • Session cancellation: Please cancel in advance if you can't attend a Community session. These sessions have limited spots, and cancelling ensures that someone else can take your place.

Prohibited behavior

  • Inappropriate requests: Refrain from flirtatious or inappropriate comments, and avoid asking for personal information.

  • No threats, harassment, or violence: Maintain a safe environment—no threats, violence, or harm towards anyone.

  • No hate or bullying: We’re here to support, not tear down! No bullying, shaming, or any behavior that promotes discrimination or violence based on personal attributes or beliefs.

  • No nudity or sexual acts: Nudity, sexual acts, and sexual harassment of any kind are strictly prohibited.

  • No politics: We appreciate our diverse backgrounds and perspectives, but a focus session is not the place for political, religious, or ideological discussions. Let's keep our interactions inclusive and centred on our common goals.

  • Soliciting business: Sessions are for focus and productivity, not for business solicitation. Refrain from promoting or selling products, services, or businesses to other participants.

COMMUNITY SESSIONS

You can create your own sessions after attending 30 FLOWN sessions. Community sessions offer you the flexibility to host on days and times that fit your schedule. They provide extra accountability, foster a sense of community spirit, and allow you to bring your unique flavour and flair to each session.

We recommend you host sessions that help with focus and recharge, as these are the core reasons people join our community. Consider a silent focus session, music practice, journaling, exercise, yoga, or sharing productivity tips.

While community sessions are flexible in format, we do have some expectations for community hosts:

Host expectations

  • Timeliness: As a host, starting and ending your session on time is #1, those booked into your session may have cleared their schedule to join, so your punctuality is a wonderful sign of respect.

  • Cancellation: If you can’t make your session, cancel with as much notice as possible.

  • Welcoming attitude: You don't need to be a professional host, but a friendly demeanour goes a long way! Greet members with a smile and a helpful attitude.

  • Inclusivity: As a host, be mindful of others' differences when participating in a session.

  • Naming conventions: Ensure the name and description accurately represent the session content.

  • Scheduling: Everyone can create sessions, though we ask you to be mindful of other hosts when scheduling sessions with a similar theme or purpose at the same time.

  • Connection: While connections are made within FLOWN, we don’t endorse sharing personal information like emails or phone numbers. Respect privacy and be cautious when communicating off-platform.

HOW FLOWN CAN HELP

Your safety and comfort are our top priorities, and we're here to support you every step of the way. If you notice anything unusual or have concerns about someone else's well-being, please guide them to the appropriate resources or reach out to our FLOWN team.

If you encounter any behavior that alarms, breaks or bends our guidelines, please either connect with the FLOWN team via the chat function or email us at hello@flown.com with the following details:

  • Description of the event

  • Time and date of the incident

  • Name and link of the session

  • Screen names of participants involved

  • Relevant screenshots from the session or session chat

We'll always aim to talk to those involved in an incident. Breaching community guidelines can result in restricted access to sessions or hosting, a temporary ban, a cooling-down period of FLOWN use, or, in extreme cases, a permanent ban from the FLOWN platform.

As per our Member Agreement, in the event of a temporary or full ban, we would cease any membership payments. We would not be obliged to refund membership payments or existing subscriptions.
