We understand that accessibility is important, and while our Community sessions hosted on the FLOWN platform currently do not have closed captions built in, you can still follow along with ease by using Google Chrome's Live Captions feature. Here’s a simple guide to help you enable and use this feature during your FLOWN community sessions.

Step 1: Access Google Chrome Settings

  1. Open Google Chrome on your computer.

  2. Click on the three vertical dots (Menu) in the upper right corner of the browser window.

  3. From the drop-down menu, select Settings.

Step 2: Navigate to the Accessibility Settings

  1. In the Settings menu, scroll down and click on Accessibility. If you don't see this option right away, you may need to first click on Advanced to expand more settings.

Step 3: Enable Live Caption

  1. In the Accessibility settings, you’ll find an option called Live Caption.

  2. Toggle the switch next to Live Caption to turn it on. This feature will now be enabled across all media played in Google Chrome, including videos, audio files, and FLOWN community sessions.

Step 4: Join a FLOWN Session

Now that Live Caption is enabled, join your FLOWN community session as you normally would. Google Chrome will automatically generate captions in real-time for the session's audio, which will appear at the bottom of your browser window.

Step 5: Customize Your Captions (Optional)

If you want to adjust the appearance of the captions:

  1. Go back to Settings > Accessibility.

  2. Click on Caption preferences to change the text size, font, color, and background of the captions to suit your preferences.

Step 6: Troubleshooting Tips

  • If captions don’t appear: Ensure that Live Caption is turned on and that your Google Chrome browser is updated to the latest version.

  • Caption accuracy: Live Caption is powered by AI and may not be 100% accurate, especially with background noise or technical terms.
