Hosting your own community session takes just a few minutes. Whether you're body doubling, running a study group, or hosting a focused work session, you can create either a Fixed format session or build your own Custom format session.
There are two ways to create a community session:
Choose who your session is for
Select Create session, then choose who should be able to join.
Option | Who can join |
Everyone at FLOWN | A Public session where anyone using FLOWN can discover and join your session and will be listed in the community calendar.
|
Organisation | Only members of your selected organisation or community can view and join. |
Invite-only | A Private session that isn't listed publicly. Only people you invite can attend. |
Once you've made your selection, select Next.
Choose your session type
You can create either a Fixed format session or a Custom format session.
Fixed format
Fixed format sessions are the quickest way to host.
Simply choose:
Start time
Session duration: 30, 60, 120, or 180 minutes (total)
Communication style: Spoken or silent
Session structure: Classic or Pomodoro
Customization
Recurring sessions
These sessions are listed in the Community and Featured calendar, with a maximum of 15 attendees.
Creating a custom format session
You can pick from templated one-hour, two-hour, or three-hour sessions(each with its own welcome, focus, break, and reflection blocks), design your own from scratch, or recreate a session you've run before.
Designing your own session

Good examples: Decluttering hour, Reading for PhDs, Founder's pitch deck session, Practice a musical instrument, 3-hour focus session, 5x pomodoro blocks.
Communication style
Silent: everyone's microphone is automatically muted.
Spoken: participants have control of their microphones and will be unmuted.

Every block belongs to one of five categories, color-coded so the agenda bar at the top gives you the shape of the session at a glance:
