Breakout rooms allow you to divide participants into smaller groups within a session. This can be useful for discussions, group work, or smaller focus blocks.
Only a community session host can start and control a breakout rooms in custom created community sessions
Start a breakout session
In your session, open the menu (⋯) Select Breakout
Choose:
Create a new breakout session, or
Recreate last breakout session
Set up your rooms
Use the + / – controls to set how many rooms you want
The interface will show how many participants per room
Participants join automatically
Participants are moved into rooms immediately
Leave unchecked:
Participants receive a prompt and can choose whether to join
Start the breakout
Once rooms are set up:
Participants will either:
Be moved automatically, or
See a prompt to Join their assigned room
During the breakout session
As a host, you can:
Move between rooms to check in
Adjust room assignments if needed
Monitor who is in each room
End breakout rooms immediately
End breakout rooms with a 60 second buffer
Participants can:
Return to the main room
Leave the call
The session chat is separate from breakout rooms, so you can’t send messages only to participants in a breakout room.
Ending the breakout session
To end the session:
Open the breakout controls
Choose:
End in 60 seconds → participants get a warning
End immediately → everyone returns instantly
If set to end in 60 seconds, participants will be notified:
How to leave a breakout room as a participant
To leave a breakout room and return to the main session:
Click Return to Main room
You’ll be moved back to the main room immediately
If you want to leave the call entirely, click Leave call instead
If you leave the session while in a breakout room, you won’t automatically rejoin that breakout room when you return.
Recreate a previous setup
You can reuse a previous room setup by selecting:
Recreate last breakout session
This keeps the same room structure and assignments.
